A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man suffered fatal stab wounds.

The 50-year-old man was found by ambulance crews in Beaufort Mansions, Trowbridge, with knife injuries to the neck. He died en route to Bath's Royal United Hospital.

A 45-year-old local woman was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and then held on suspicion of murder.

She remains in custody at Melksham Police Station.

Formal identification has yet to take place of the victim but police said his next of kin had been informed.

Officers added that they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the death.

Det Ch Insp Ian Saunders of Wiltshire Police has appealed for witnesses.

He is particularly keen to hear from anyone who heard or saw anything in the Beaufort Mansions area between midnight and 04:30 GMT.
