Man dies in car crash in Marlborough Road, Swindon

Scene of accident Marlborough Road was closed following the accident to allow Wiltshire Police to carry out an investigation

A 19-year-old man died when the car he was travelling in crashed into a tree in Swindon.

Emergency services were called to Marlborough Road at about 01:20 BST to find a silver Vauxhall Corsa on fire.

Great Western Ambulance Service said the male driver of the car was able to get out, but his passenger was trapped inside and died at the scene.

The surviving man had minor burns to his hands and was taken to Swindon's Great Western Hospital for treatment.

The road was closed for six hours while Wiltshire Police carried out an investigation.
