Tributes have been paid to a "generous and sensitive young man" who was hit by a car after leaving a Christmas party in Wiltshire.

Toby Hearne, 17, was killed while he was walking home following a party at Stanton St Quintin, near Chippenham, on 22 December.

In a family statement Toby was described as a great sportsman and a gifted child in all areas of his life.

He played rugby for Chippenham RFC in their under 18s side.

The club's traditional Boxing Day match went ahead as normal, although the players held a minute's silence beforehand.

"Toby had a really wide circle of friends who had an inexplicable magnetism which attracted everyone to him.

"He's left a void in all our lives and in many more who knew him.

"To sum Toby up in his own words on a tweet, 'Take everything as it comes. Sometimes things go my way and sometimes they don't. Love music, love sport, love life'," the family tribute said.
