Solar farm The solar farm on land near Malmesbury consists of 400 black silicon panels

Wiltshire's first large-scale solar farm has been connected to the National Grid.

An acre of land near Malmesbury is housing 400 black silicon panels which will generate enough energy to power 20 homes.

It is the first stage in a local solar energy operation which will see a much larger farm built nearby by August.

The second farm will cover 35 acres of land and will generate enough energy to power 2,000 homes.
