Man's head stamped on by stranger in Swindon attack

A man was attacked by a stranger who kicked and stamped on his head in Swindon town centre.

Police described the assault, which left the victim needing medical treatment, as "a frantic attack".

Officers said the victim was approached by the man who said: "All right mate", before headbutting him.

The attack, at the junction of Regent Street and Canal Walk, continued until a workman nearby intervened and the man ran off.

Wiltshire Police said the victim was punched and kneed in the stomach until he fell to the floor where he was kicked and punched repeatedly.

The offender was described as skinny, white, and wearing pale blue jeans, a pale grey and white T-shirt, baseball cap and trainers.
