Grandstand Road New Year's Day crash victims named

Two men killed on New Year's Day in a Tyneside crash have been named by police.

It happened in the early hours of the morning on Grandstand Road, Newcastle. Officers who arrived at about 04:00 GMT said a car had hit a tree.

The victims were Sagar Chadha, 30, of The Burnside, West Denton, and Mohammad Amin Ahmadi, 17, of The Pines, Cruddas Park.

Two other men were injured, but their injuries were not life-threatening.

The road was closed for more than six hours while investigators examined the scene.
