Drugs arrest after woman's death in Gateshead

A man has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the offer to supply drugs after a woman died on Tyneside.

Emergency services were called at about 13:45 BST after concerns for a woman outside the former Windmill Hills care home on Bensham Road in Gateshead.

The 28-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. A report is being prepared for the coroner.

A 41-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the offer to supply drugs.

Det Sgt Andy Groundwater from Northumbria Police said: "We're piecing together the circumstances surrounding this woman's death.

"I'd urge anyone who was in the area of Bensham Road and who may have seen this woman to come forward as their information could assist our investigation."
