A man has been charged with posting an offensive message on Twitter relating to the Malaysia Airlines crash.
It follows a tweet relating to two of the men who died when flight MH17 came down over eastern Ukraine on 17 July, killing all 298 people on board.
Mitchell Tace Chapman, of Pegwood Road, Sunderland, has been charged with making a malicious communication.
The 18-year-old will appear before magistrates in Sunderland on 11 August.
Among those who died were Newcastle United fans Liam Sweeney, 28, and 63-year-old John Alder.
An online fundraising page set up in memory of them has raised more than £30,000.
