Lorry collision victim dies on A189 near Blyth

A man died when he was struck by a lorry in Northumberland.

The 40-year-old, who has not yet been named, was hit on the A189 Spine Road, near Blyth just before 02:40 BST, Northumbria Police said.

No-one else was injured, but a force spokesman said the lorry driver was treated for shock.

A stretch of the road between the Three Horseshoes Inn and Blyth Asda was closed for a time. Police have appealed for witnesses.
