Neil Readman named as man killed in Gateshead crash

A man who died after his car left the road and hit a hedgerow on Tyneside has been named.

Neil Readman was driving on the A692 Lobley Hill Road, near the junction with Schoolhouse Lane at Marley Hill, Gateshead, at 14:21 BST on Monday.

The car left the road and hit a hedgerow before rolling on to its roof.

The 49-year-old, from Dipton, County Durham, died shortly afterwards, police said. A woman passenger, 53, suffered "non life-threatening" injuries.
