A shipping container adorned with fishing sculptures has gone on show in North Tyneside ahead of the BBC's Great North Passion event.

The container was revealed at North Shields Fish Quay earlier.

It will be shipped across the River Tyne on Monday and installed in Bents Park, South Shields, with other containers to form a giant cross.

The artwork will feature in an hour-long BBC One documentary on Good Friday.

Dancers, graffiti artists and a choir will be used to tell the story of the final days of Christ's life.

The entire installation at Bents Park will then be open to the public from Easter Saturday to Easter Monday between 12:00 BST and 16:00 BST.

Local artist Richard Broderick worked on the North Tyneside contribution.

The project was commissioned by the BBC in partnership with The Cultural Spring, part of an Arts Council initiative aimed at increasing participation in the arts.
