Police searching for a 92-year-old man have made a fresh appeal for information, a week after he was reported missing.

Thomas Diggle was last seen at his sheltered accommodation in Corbridge, Northumberland, on 27 March.

The alarm was raised when he failed to turn up for coffee the next morning.

Police said the search operation was ongoing. Specially trained dogs have been brought in and on Thursday the marine unit searched the River Tyne.

Ch Insp John Barnes, from Northumberland Police, said: "Information from members of the public can be crucial.

"It may be that some people only come into Corbridge once a week, so revisiting the area one week on could provide us with something vital that will help locate him."
