Operation Sanctuary: Arrests number rises to 64

The number of people arrested as part of an investigation into allegations of sexual crime against vulnerable women and girls has risen to 64.

Northumbria Police set up Operation Sanctuary in January and said up to 80 potential victims had been identified.

Of these, eight men are going through the court system charged with various sexual offences, including grooming a girl under 16 and rape.
