Benton double murder: Glen Patterson remanded in custody

A man accused of murdering his father and grandmother has appeared in court.

Glen Patterson was at North Tyneside Magistrates' Court earlier after being charged over the deaths of Ray Patterson, 61, and Clara Patterson, 82.

Their bodies were found at their home in Front Street, Benton, at about 21:15 GMT on Tuesday.

The case will next be heard at Newcastle Crown Court on 27 February. Mr Patterson, 25, also of Front Street, was remanded in custody.
