Witness appeal after 75-year-old dies two weeks after crash

A 75-year-old man has died two weeks after being hit by a car outside a Sunderland social club.

Police said the man suffered head injuries when he was struck on South Hylton Bank, outside Pennywell Comrades Club just after 23:00 GMT on 5 January.

The driver stopped at the scene and has been interviewed by officers, a Northumbria Police spokesman said.

Police have appealed for witnesses and said the man was not yet being named according to his family's wishes.
