'Gun-shaped item' used in Leazes Park robbery

A man was robbed in a Newcastle park in the early hours of Sunday.

A man wearing a scarf across his face, who police said appeared to have a "gun-shaped item", demanded the 22-year-old hand over his bank card and pin number.

Another man, also wearing a scarf, took the card away and is believed to have withdrawn cash before returning it.

The victim was left shaken but not injured after the robbery at about 01:40 GMT in Leazes Park.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
