Shining light for County Durham crossing patrols

A new safety feature is being piloted at crossing patrols outside two County Durham schools.

A local inventor came up with the idea of illuminated "lollipop sticks" which flash, providing additional visibility on dark mornings and dusky afternoons.

The council said that if successful the measure could be rolled out throughout the county.
