Man arrested after Wallsend tree crash death

A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following a car crash in North Tyneside.

Police were called to Hadrian Road, Wallsend, on Thursday, after a Ford Puma hit a tree at about 13:20 GMT.

A 48-year-old man suffered serious injuries, and was pronounced dead in hospital.

Northumbria Police appealed for witnesses to the crash, near Junction Park Road, to contact them.
