After 20 years as goalkeeper with Newcastle United, Steve Harper has returned to his pit village roots in County Durham to take on a footballing challenge of a different kind.

Just days after celebrating with a charity testimonial at St James' Park, the Magpies veteran has returned to his birthplace to become honorary president of Easington Colliery AFC.

His father Alan used to play for the team, where most of the squad were recruited from the local coal mine.

Stephanie Cleasby met up with father and son.
