Boldon murder victim named as Gemma Finnigan

Police have named a woman whose body was found on South Tyneside, sparking a murder inquiry, as Gemma Finnigan.

The 24-year-old was found by officers at a house in Church View, Boldon, on Friday morning.

Detectives are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination to determine an exact cause of death.

A 32-year-old man, who police said was known to the victim, was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
