Man, 19, charged after woman raped in Newcastle bushes

A 19-year-old has been charged with rape after a woman was taken into bushes and attacked in Newcastle, police said.

The victim was attacked after she was approached by a man in the Scotswood Road area early on 2 September.

The woman had been walking from the city centre near Newcastle College car park when the attack happened.

Ted Armstrong, of no fixed address, has been charged with rape and is to appear before city magistrates later.
