A teenager has denied the murder of a Lithuanian man on Tyneside.

The body of Mantas Leonavicius, 22, was found at a flat in Stanley Street, North Shields, on 10 May.

Eligijus Zemaitis, 18, of Barmouth Way in the town, pleaded not guilty to murder when he appeared at Newcastle Crown Court on Thursday.

He was remanded in custody until 21 October. Three other men arrested in connection with the case have been released with no further action.
