Man charged with rape after woman attacked in Newcastle

A man has been charged with rape following an attack on a 19-year-old woman in Newcastle.

The assault happened on Dispensary Lane, behind the Gate entertainment complex, at about 03:00 BST on Friday.

The woman was attacked after walking with a man from Eazy Street bar on Westmorland Road to the Gate, Northumbria Police said.

A 23-year-old man was charged by officers in connection with the incident on Wednesday.
