Memorial walk for drowned friends

31 July 2013 Last updated at 20:33 BST

Family and friends of two young friends who drowned in the River Wear in Washington came together for a memorial walk along the banks of the river where they died.

Tonibeth Purvis, 15, from Barmston, tried to help Chloe Fowler, 14, from Shiney Row, after she got into difficulty near a viaduct on 23 July.

The walk was to help raise money for their families, as Jim Knight reports.
