Motorbike rider killed in Longhirst collision with car

A motorcyclist has been killed in a collision with a car on a rural Northumberland road.

The crash, involving the bike and a Mini Cooper, happened just after 10:00 BST on Monday the B1337 at Longhirst.

The man was taken to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary, where he was pronounced dead. He has not yet been named.

Northumbria Police's motor patrol unit has appealed for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
