Man denies racist gesture at Sunderland v West Brom match

A man has denied making a racist gesture during a match at Sunderland's Stadium of Light.

Liam Jones, 21, of East Vines, Sunderland, was charged following an alleged incident in the stands at the Sunderland v West Bromwich match.

It came when West Brom's Romelu Lukaku scored a goal during the match on 24 November last year.

Mr Jones appeared at Sunderland Magistrates' Court charged with racially aggravated harassment.

The case was adjourned for trial on 26 June and he was granted conditional bail.
