A68 Northumberland crash: Two die in collision

Two people have died and a man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a crash on the A68 in Northumberland.

The two-vehicle smash happened at 19:40 BST on Wednesday just north of Byrness - near the Cheviot Hills.

Northumbria Police said two people, who were travelling in the same vehicle, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A man was taken by air ambulance to the Royal Victoria Infirmary with serious but non life-threatening injuries.
