Woman dies in Peterlee house fire

A woman has died following a house fire in County Durham.

The woman, 83, was pronounced dead at the scene of the blaze at a bungalow in Peterlee.

Three crews from County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue were called to the home on Langdale Place at around 01:00 GMT.

A cordon is in place at the property while the fire service investigates along with detectives from Durham Police.
