Lillian Wilson dies after being hit by bus in Gateshead

An elderly woman was killed when she was hit by a bus in Gateshead.

Lillian Wilson, 81 was struck by the single-decker on Split Crow Road, Felling Square.

Mrs Wilson, from Hewitson Terrace in Gateshead, was pronounced dead at the scene. No passengers were on board the vehicle at the time.

Northumbria Police appealed for witnesses to the incident, which happened near the junction with Coldwell Street on Monday morning.
