Five people have been arrested and bailed in connection with the murder of a Tyneside football badge seller.

John Roberts, 32, was found dead in his home in Park Terrace, Winlaton, Gateshead, on 16 December after suffering head injuries.

Northumbria Police said three men, aged 27, 21 and 17, and a 16-year-old girl had been arrested and bailed on suspicion of murder.

A girl, 15, was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

She was also bailed.
