Man arrested over death of MBE recipient Roy Toogood

A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a pedestrian was killed in North Tyneside.
Roy Toogood, 66, died after being struck by a car on Beach Road in North Shields on Monday.
The former operations manager, from Cullercoats, North Tyneside, received an MBE in 2000 for his work with HM Revenue and Customs.
The 18-year-old car driver has been bailed pending further inquiries.
Mr Toogood was taken to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary, but later died.
