It is believed the dead man was at a house party
A 25-year-old man has died following reports of a fight at a house party in North Tyneside, police said.
Emergency services were called to Burn Closes Crescent, in Wallsend, shortly before 02:00 GMT where they found a man in the street with a stab wound.
The man was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, where he was declared dead.
Northumbria Police has launched a murder investigation and is appealing for information.
'Reassure residents'Detectives believe the man, who has not been named, was at a house party on the street and was involved in a fight with a number of people.
Seven people have been arrested in connection with his death.
Supt Jim Napier said: "Police inquiries at the scene are ongoing and a cordon is in place on the street.
"Additional police patrols are under way to aid the investigation and to reassure local residents."
