Paul Carr charged with murder of David Charlton

A third person has been charged with the murder of a 25-year-old man who was killed on his way home from a night out in South Shields.

David Charlton was stabbed in front of his girlfriend on 21 December.

Paul Carr, 31, of Hudson Street, South Shields, will appear at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court on Friday, Northumbria Police said.

Keith Honeyman, 19, of Alice Street in South Shields, and a 15-year-old male have already been charged.

Mr Charlton was attacked at the junction of Stanhope Road and Boldon Lane, police said.
