Tyneside church transformed into circus training school

Help

A church in Newcastle has been turned into a circus training school in a bid to find funding for future running costs.

Christ Church in Shieldfield has formed a partnership with NE Circus Development Trust to run a circus training school on site after dwindling congregation numbers threatened its future.

The partnership means the Grade II listed building will receive money to help with repairs and allow regular worship.

The church has also received a £107,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to repair the roof.
