Seaton Burn and Benton car park shootings: Further arrests
The Seaton Burn shooting came 20 days after the Benton incident
Five people have been arrested after a man was shot in a car park on Tyneside.
A 54-year-old man was shot in the back in the car park of the Six Mile Bridge Inn in Seaton Burn on 4 January.
A 47-year-old man has been arrested on conspiracy to commit murder. Three men and one woman have also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Northumbria Police said the Seaton Burn incident and a shooting in Benton outside the Wheatsheaf pub on 14 December, "could be connected".
Police said the inquiry was centred on "internal disputes between criminals".
Both victims received hospital treatment but their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
A total of 19 people have now been arrested in connection with the incidents.
