Knife found after girl, 15, raped in Elswick

A knife has been recovered by police investigating the rape of a teenager in the West End of Newcastle.

The 15-year-old was left "traumatised" following the attack on a grassed area between Park Close and Gloucester Terrace in Elswick, on Tuesday night, during which she also robbed.

Officers have now located a 4in wooden handled kitchen knife at the scene.

Police appealed for those with private CCTV cameras on their home to check for anything that could help the inquiry.

The attacker is described as in his late teens, approximately 5ft 8in tall, with dark skin, and a slim build. He was wearing a black leather jacket.
