Feversham School sex abuse pair in court

Two men have appeared in court over alleged child abuse at a special residential school in Newcastle, during the 1980s and 1990s.

John Leslie Duncan, 59 and Kevin Brown, 56, face charges relating to sexual assaults on young boys at Feversham School in Walbottle.

No pleas were entered at the Newcastle Magistrates' Court hearing.

Mr Duncan, from Gateshead was released on conditional bail. Mr Brown of no fixed address, was remanded in custody.

The school catered for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Mr Brown, of no fixed address, has been charged with four counts relating to the period from September 1980 to November 1990.

Mr Duncan is charged with 17 offences between March 1982 and July 1989, including serious sexual offences with a boy under 16, indecent assault and gross indecency.
