Whittingham's Robert Blakey named as tree crash victim

A driver who was killed when his car crashed into a tree has been named by Northumbria Police.

Henry Robert Blakey, 27, of Whittingham near Alnwick, died when his Rover 25 left the A697 near Longframlington village on Monday night.

Mr Blakey was pronounced dead at the scene and the road was closed for around four-and-a-half hours.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the crash, which happened at around 22:30 GMT, to come forward.
