Man held over van driver death on A1 in Northumberland

A man has been arrested over the death of a van driver involved in a three vehicle collision in Northumberland.

A stretch of the A1 at Felton was closed for five hours after the crash in the early hours of Monday.

The driver of a VW van died in hospital. A passenger in the van and the drivers of the other two cars involved were not seriously hurt.

Northumbria Police said a 49-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
