Professor Stephen Graham charged over car damage

A Newcastle University professor has been charged after words were scratched into several cars.

Prof Stephen Graham, 47, of Lansdowne Road in the city, was detained after a man was seen damaging cars in the Jesmond area last month.

Northumbria Police confirmed the academic had been charged with four counts of criminal damage.

A force spokeswoman said Prof Graham was due before Newcastle Magistrates' Court on 3 October.
