A fishing boat with five people on board had to be towed to safety after it ran aground in strong winds off the Cumbrian coast.

The 32ft (9.7m) vessel got into difficulties after losing power and drifted onto sandbanks in the Walney Channel near Barrow.

An RNLI lifeboat from Barrow managed to secure a tow line and get the boat into deeper water.

No-one was injured and the fishing boat suffered only minor damage.
