South Shields back lane death man named as Carl Brennan

A man who died after being discovered unconscious in a South Shields back lane has been named.

Carl Brennan was found at the back of South Frederick Street on Friday night. The 31-year-old of Charles Street, Boldon Colliery, died later.

Police said a post-mortem examination had proved inconclusive, but it did not appear a weapon had been involved.

A 27-year-old man and 19-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of murder have been bailed.
