Royal tearoom row puts Stanhope on map

Help

A royal-themed County Durham tearoom is attracting customers from around the world and the owner puts the attention down to a row about the national anthem.

Royal Teas in Stanhope made headlines when patriotic Anita Atkinson threw out three pensioners for refusing to stand for the song.

It has now had visitors from America, Canada and New Zealand.

Local businesses believe the town has become a tourist hotspot because of the royal row.

Stuart Whincup reports.
