Introducing BBC Newcastle's stage for new talent
Have you discovered BBC Introducing at BBC Newcastle yet?
It is the place where you can find the best in brand new music from right here in the north-east of England.
On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights at 9pm during my Evening Show we dedicate about twenty minutes to playing the best unsigned, underground and under-the-radar sounds from the BBC Newcastle area.
Everything from bands to electronic bedroom producers to time travelling rappers - if it is good you will hear it on the BBC Introducing sequence.
In most cases this is uploaded through the BBC Introducing website. It is easy to do and you can upload a maximum of three tunes at a time.Going national
If it is good you might hear some on BBC Newcastle. If it is really good you could hear it elsewhere on the BBC.
Maybe Huw Stephens on Radio 1, Tom Robinson on 6 Music, DJ Target at 1 Xtra or even on Jazz on Radio 3.
If we like an artist they might be invited to perform a live session.
It is BBC Newcastle not Maida Vale but, if we think you can cut it live and acoustic, you may find yourself in our studios.
Over the past few months we have had a slice of Geordie Americana from Mr Ben Sir, Sunderland's Futureheads doing their new acappella material publicly for the first time and The Cornshed Sisters with their uniquely odd brand of folk songs.Amazing voice
Wylam's Vinyl Jacket did a storming acoustic version of their recent single Red Light and Tom Robinson liked this so much he played it out on his BBC 6 Music Saturday evening show.
From South Shields we have had some of the Union Choir collective in and, more recently, the amazing voice and beautiful songs of Natasha Haws.
Martin Longstaff, the main man from Sunderland's Lake Poets, came in to sing about a particularly nasty friend and the rain, amongst other things.
It does not stop there.
As long as you keep uploading new sounds to the BBC Introducing website we will be bringing you the best of those tracks and the occasional live acoustic session all showcasing the amazing North East music scene.
