A teenager from County Durham has died after a collision with a car.

Daniel Millichamp, 19, was hit by the car on Rotary Way in Consett on Friday morning and sustained serious head injuries.

The pedestrian, from Main Street, later died from his injuries in Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary.

Roads were closed for about three hours at Delves Lane while the Great North Air Ambulance Service was called to assist paramedics.
