Gateshead burst water pipe causes fountain
A burst water pipe caused a fountain-like spray in Gateshead.
Northumbrian Water said a 30in (76cm) water trunk main in Hexham Road was affected but there was no disruption to customers.
It said 12 engineers were at the scene and the cause was not yet known.
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "We received a call at 10:11am this morning about a burst water main in Hexham Road in Swalwell.
"The road has been closed to allow services to deal with problems, diversions have been put in place and motorists have been asked to avoid where possible."
