Man arrested after Hetton-le-Hole gun report

Armed officers were called after police received reports of a man with what was believed to be a gun outside a County Durham pub.

Northumbria police said they went to the Fox and Hounds pub, in Hetton-le-Hole, shortly before 19:30 GMT on Friday.

A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

An item, believed to be an air weapon, was recovered. No-one was hurt.
