New Millom cemetery planned as current one fills up

A new cemetery is being planned in a Cumbria town because the current one is almost full.

Copeland Council said it needed to open a new site in Millom within three years, otherwise bereaved families would face a 40-mile round trip to the nearest burial place.

It has set aside £50,000 to try to find a suitable site.

The current site cannot be extended because it would encroach on Millom Park and other planned developments.
