Man charged over Tyneside Metro station rape

A man has been charged with rape after a 16-year-old girl was attacked at a Tyne and Wear Metro station in North Shields, police have said.

Officers were called following reports of the attack, which happened at Meadowell Metro station just before midnight on 23 June.

A 22-year-old local man has been charged in connection with the incident.

He is due to appear before North Tyneside Magistrates' Court later.
