Saltburn beach reopens following training mortar find

Part of a Teesside beach which was cordoned off following the discovery of a suspected explosive device has reopened.

Redcar Coastguard and Cleveland Police were called to Huntcliffe, Saltburn, at about 19:00 BST on Monday after reports that a suspicious item had been found.

A section of the beach was temporarily closed to the public.

An Army bomb disposal team identified the device as a training mortar before safely removing it.
